Open Competitions at South Herts

HARRY VARDON CUP and DAI REES BOWL Saturday 5th July 2008 (click here to download entry form)

The Harry Vardon Cup, Medal and Prize will be awarded for the best net score over 36 holes. The Dai Rees Bowl, Medal and Prize will be awarded for the best gross score over 36 holes, and forms part of the Hertfordshire Golf Union Men's Order of Merit. Prizes will be awarded to the runners-up both net and scratch over 36 holes, the best a.m. scores net and scratch and the best p.m. scores net and scratch. In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided on the last 18 holes. No player may take more than one prize. Closing date for entries is 14th June 2008. The entry fee is £40.

An 18 holes Stableford (½ combined handicaps) with handicap limits of 30 for ladies and 20 for men. The entry fee of £50 per pair includes a Buffet Tea, and an optional hot lunch is available at an extra charge. Closing date for entries is 15th June 2008.

SOUTH HERTS JUNIOR OPEN Monday 11th August 2008 (click here to download entry form)

This very popular 36 hole competition for the Vardon-Rees Memorial Trophies is always highly oversubscribed, and has prizes for both scratch and handicap. Entrants must be 18 years of age or under on 1st January 2008, with a maximum handicap of 28 for boys and 36 for girls. The entry fee is £25 including lunch and evening meal, and applications must be received by the 1st August 2008 (maximum field: 72).

Entries are welcomed from ladies with a handicap of 35 or under. The format is four ball better ball stableford with an entrance fee of £34 per person, £68 per pair including Morning Coffee, Lunch and Gratuity. Partners will be found for individual entries. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placed teams. Closing date for entries is 18th July 2008.
